100 Mile Hell Ride

Wow. Now that was a ride to remember!

100 miles. Big deal.

What was a big deal was the terrain. This ride had four maybe 5 of THE steepest hills I have ever ridden in my life. One was so steep that I almost didn't make it over, and I'm not talking about a few hundred meters of steep. I'm talking a mile, or more standing almost the entire way. There must have been a dozen or more climbs of significance on this ride.

MattyJ put together one of the best routes I have spun on. This guy is no joke. Super strong, riding in the big ring all day while I'm spinning away in my little compact ring. And I thought I was a gear masher.

Again, there is no way to describe how hard these hills were. By far the hardest course I have ever ridden. 70 miles in and we hit a 1.6 miler that is so nasty I'm seeing stars. Then at mile 80 a switchback climb so steep your rear wheel is almost spinning out. The first one we hit at mile 10 and I almost didn't make it with fresh legs.

Still, the weather was great, and we got to pass Ninham and Fahnestock on our route.

I highly recommend that if the opportunity comes up again to do this ride you guys join up.
