Since I do a lot of riding at Sprain I have been using some down time to do trail maintenance to help sustain the great trails we have. When the weather is too nasty to ride or I have already done a few hours on the bike, I’ll drive over to Sprain a do a couple of hours of labor.
Vine cutting, trail armoring, fixing mary lines, all great cross training!
I’ve ridden he trails with the original designers quite a few times and always take notes on what their original intentions were. Like keeping the corners wide and fast, killing cut throughs to keep the flow going in a certain direction, or restoring an original line that has been lost.
Of course not everyone appreciates that the easy lines have been removed to restore the original, and some work needs to be redone every few months (or weeks) but consistency is key here. Since Sprain is small and gets a lot of use, it needs constant up keep by its users.
The end result is a great place to ride.
