So off to Sprain for a quick ride before it gets dark.
Hit “Grey Goose” a little off the mark and scrape up my left leg. I was going to just do XC, but I needed to get some confidence back on the skinnies. A few more tries and I burp my front tire landing off center. Fortunately I meet Sandra who is riding alone, and he lends me his pump.
Up to “Double Barrel” and a few successful runs get my confidence up.
Back to the lot at 5:30 to pick up FTB, and it is back to Double Barrel for some more fun.
Start scoping out some new lines with all of the trees that Con Ed cut down next to the park. FTB gets creative and moves a large flat rock. Ouch! Looks like he disturbed a bees nest. I get stung in the ribs by a strange looking bee.
Off we go, the ride is starting to burn off the stress of the work week. Onto “It Teeters!” for the first time. Hit it a few times, watch Sandra hit the dirt on this third try, but he is ok.
One last time- Off to the left I go and WTF!
I land and my foot finds a small hole, twisting my ankle over and ripping the tendons for the second time in a year. Sprained!
I ride out, drive home, go to the emergency room and get the bad news.
Off the bike for at least three weeks or more. Off the skinnies for longer.
Doctor says that since it is the second injury, it will take six months for it to heal 60-70%. A year until it is 90%.
At least FTB got some good shots.
